Kainaan's First ER Visit

Well, I must say we finally did it. We have now joined the millions of other parents that take trips to the ER. Tonight, we went to the Japanese place with Lisa, Brad, & Peyton and was having a wonderful time, just like the rest of our day had gone, when towards the end, the boys wanted to go look at this Japanese Warrior Costume in a glass case. No big deal, right? WRONG! Kainaan was trying to catch up to Brad and Peyton and tripped on his feet. He did a face plant on the glass case! Luckily, the glass didn't break and cut him up, but the wooden ledge on the bottom was not so forgiving to Kainaan's nose. Brad picked him up and turned towards us at the table, as we were all looking at the 3 of them trying to see what that loud bang was that we had just heard. That's when we realized it was Kainaan's head smacking the glass and he had blood running down his face. I think it took all of 5 seconds to see his nose swell! It got big quick! That's when we decided to go ahead and get him checked out at the ER. We thought for sure it was broken...BUT ITS NOT! Can you believe that!? He is going to be okay! He might have a black eye or 2 in the morning and be sore, but that's it! He...and WE got very lucky!
And I must say that I stayed calm for the whole time! I never went nuts trying to gather our stuff at the table and I never freaked out in front of Kainaan with all of the blood...I was cool, calm, and collected! Mommy instincts are awesome! Tim was okay...I think he got a little panicky for a second or 2, but he was great, too! Except for immediately saying that Kainaan tripped because of his shoes...grrr! Excuse me, the cute leather sandals that I just bought him didn't make him trip! He is 3, all boy, and was running where he shouldn't have been running! But anyways, I had let that comment go for the moment! Tim said he wasn't directly blaming me, but helloooo? I bought him the shoes for summer and I picked them out for tonight with his outfit. What else could Tim have been referring to? Oh well, I know that everything will always be Mommy's fault. Isn't that how it works?
Anyways, my baby is going to fine, and he was acting like his normal self by the time we left the ER. But I will keep everyone posted if anything changes...even though I don't look for it to.

Oh and one more thing...yes, I had my camera with me, and yes, I took pics while we were in the ER. As always, I always get my shot! :-)

I guess the pics don't do it justice...it looked much worse in person. He just got really lucky!

Poor baby! He was so upset! But he was in Daddy's arms, Mommy was chopped liver until he wanted me to kiss it! Its was too sweet. He looked at me with tears in his eyes and said, "Mommy kissy nose."

I was trying to entertain him with a blown up glove. The Nurse gave him a bunch of stickers, and the other nurse gave him band-aids for him and his frog blanket...the frog had some blood on his head, so Kainaan had to put a band-aid on him, too! :-)
